Export a Document
Export a copy of your project to your device, email, or cloud drive. Stick to saving as a PDF for an easy print job or choose another of our many file format options for cross-platform collaboration. The choice is yours!
If you are working in the browser, exports will download based on your browser's download settings.
If you are exporting to your hard drive on the desktop app, you will be prompted to select the file path of the export.
If you are exporting to your hard drive on the mobile app or browser, exports will save based on your device's download and file saving settings.

Quick PDF Export
This will export the document you are viewing along with the Title Page.
- Select Quick Export (PDF) from the Project widget OR select File > Quick Export (PDF)
- The Title Page will export with the document by default. Change this setting through Customize > PDF
Export a PDF
Export a PDF of any document, set of documents, revisions only, specific pages, specific scenes, or selected lines with or without the title page.
- Select Export from the Project widget OR select File > Export
- As needed, change the filename
- Select PDF from the file type options
- Select the desired PDF Options
- Default - will export the desired Content Options
- See sections below for additional options
- Select the desired Content Options
- All lines - will export all line types, including Outline and Note lines
- Selected lines - will export only lines selected on page
- Visible lines - will export only the lines that are visible on the page
- As desired, check the box for Show indicator for content that is filtered out. This will add a visual indicator anywhere content has been filtered from the script. This is especially useful when exporting specific pages or revised pages only.
- Double-click or drag documents to include or not include in the export and drag documents to rearrange the order. Or select the desired Document Set.
- All documents will export into the same file
- The Title Page will export with the document by default. Move it to Do Not Include to remove it from the export.
- Select the Storage location
- Hard Drive
- Email
- Sent to your email by default. Enter multiple emails separated by commas.
- External Cloud Drive
- To change the account designated for your external cloud connection, reset your external cloud drive authentication.
- Select Export
Include NotesThis will include all Note lines and Comments left on the document. Comments will appear in color.
- After selecting PDF as the File Type, select Include notes from the PDF Options drop-down
- Select remaining desired options
- Select Export
Revised Pages OnlyThis will export only the pages that contain revisions. Revisions must be visible in the document to be included in the export. Revisions will export as they appear in the app. To have full-page color export, go to Customize > PDF and under Coloring check the box for Print revision page color full background.
- Enable View & Track or Date & Writers revisions to view the revisions as desired
- In the Export window, select Revised pages only from the PDF Options drop-down
- Select remaining desired options
- Select Export
Specific PagesThis will export only the pages specified.
- After selecting PDF as the File Type, select Specific Pages from the PDF Options drop-down
- Under Page numbers, enter the page(s) you would like to export
- Use a dash between numbers for sections of pages (i.e. 2-5)
- Use commas to separate pages that are not consecutive (i.e. 3, 6, 8)
- Select remaining desired options
- Select Export
Specific ScenesThis will export only the scenes specified.
- Ensure numbering is enabled for Scene lines.
- After selecting PDF as the File Type, open the PDF Options drop-down to select Specific Scenes
- Below Scene numbers, enter the scene(s) you would like to export
- Use a dash between numbers for sections of scenes (i.e. 2-5)
- Use commas to separate scenes that are not consecutive (i.e. 3, 6, 8)
- As needed, check the box for Preserve page numbers from the script - this will export only the selected scenes on their respective pages without any other content.
- For example, if you are exporting scenes 1 & 3 and scene 3 appears on page 4, the PDF will export scene 1 on the first page and scene 3 on the following page with its corresponding page number from the script.
- To export all content on the same page as the selected scenes, check the box for Show other page content along with scenes.
- As needed, check the box for Show indicator for content that is filtered out - this will export a visible marker surrounding the filtered content.
- Select remaining desired options
- Select Export
Export a Document/ProjectExport any document with the title page, comments, only selected lines, etc. WriterDuet files will export the entire project.
- Select File > Export OR select the Export tool in the Tools widget
- As needed, change the filename
- Select the desired file type
- WriterDuet (.wdz)
- Final Draft (.fdx)
- Final Draft w/o Notes (.fdx)
- Fountain (.fountain)
- Celtx (.celtx)
- Microsoft Word (.docx)
- Rich Text Format (.rtf)
- Text (.txt)
- HTML (.html)

- Select the desired Content Options
- All lines - will export all line types, including Outline and Note lines
- Selected lines - will export only lines selected on page
- Visible lines - will export only the lines that are visible on the page

Document SetsDocument Sets enable you to save groups of documents that you export together frequently. These document sets are accessible to you and your collaborators.
Create a Document Set
- After selecting the desired File Type, open the Documents drop-down
- Double-click documents to include or not include
- As needed, drag documents to rearrange the order
- Select the three-dot icon in the Include section
- Select Save Current Set (# Documents)
- Name the Document Set
- Press Enter/Return or select Save
Select a Document Set for Export- After selecting the desired File Format and Content Options for your export, open the Documents drop-down to reveal the documents
- Select the three-dot icon in the Include section
- Select the desired Document Set
Rename a Document Set- Open the Export window
- Open the Documents drop-down
- Select the three-dot icon in the Include section
- Select the pencil icon to the right of the name
- Edit the name
- Press Enter/Return or select Update
Open a Document Set- Open the Export window
- Open the Documents drop-down
- Select the three-dot icon in the Include section
- Select the open icon
- Select Yes, open documents
- All documents in the set, if not already open, will open in a new tab.
Delete a Document SetThis will delete the set for you and your collaborators.
- Open the Export window
- Open the Documents drop-down
- Select the three-dot icon in the Include section
- Select the trashcan icon to the right of the document set you wish to delete.
